Hundreds of students with disabilities meet with Atlanta Braves before game [Video]

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Some of us may often have the opportunity to attend an Atlanta Braves game, but not many of us are given the chance to meet the team’s staff.

However, on Sunday morning, more than 1,300 students with disabilities were able to experience a moment of a lifetime for a day of career exploration and networking. Kids from across the state were able to connect with key members of the Braves’ staff. The Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA) joined with the Braves to make it happen.

During the event, the students received career coaching and self-advocacy training. They were also able to listen in on a panel discussion and learn more about vocational rehabilitation and other GVRA programs.

Katie Hearn, who is now a game day staffing administrator for the Braves, found work through the GVRA. Hearn is blind.
