Hundreds apply for Greensboro traffic management program [Video]

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Time is ticking down. Saturday is the last day to apply for your street to get safety improvements. The City of Greensboro launched its new neighborhood traffic management program earlier this summer with a goal to make the streets you live on safer.

The city knew this would be popular but not quite this popular. There were 299 applications that came in, and with one day left, they expect to pass 300. Even though not all are eligible, and some were duplicates, there is a lot of work ahead to whittle the list down to priority projects.

“This is a neighborhood with a lot of people walking,” said James Sokup who lives on Walker Avenue. Sokup, like many of his neighbors, is concerned about all the speeders.

“Unfortunately when you get on these side streets, I think people think it is just a suggestion to go …
