HSE issues urgent do not swim notice for popular sandy beach following weekend of battering storms [Video]

AN URGENT “do not swim” warning has been issued for a popular swimming spot in Cork after the HSE deemed it unsafe for bathing.

Cork County Council and the HSE are urging people not to swim on the popular Warren Beach in Rosscarbery, Co Cork following the recent stormy conditions.

After consulting with health bosses, the council is set to carry out tests for bacteria over the coming days following “recent localised storm conditions”.

A Cork County Council spokesperson said: “Due to recent localised storm conditions, in the interest of public health, a precautionary Advisory Notice (Not to Swim) has been issued for the Warren Beach, in consultation with the HSE.

“Microbiological tests are being carried out today and in the coming days.”
