How parents can help keep children safe online [Video]

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – On Thursday, Cedar Rapids police arrested seven men for allegedly trying to sexually exploit children online. TV9 reached out to a Cedar Rapids based non profit about how parents can help make sure their children are navigating the internet in a safe way.

Tish Young with Chains Interrupted often talks to parents about how to help their children navigate the internet. “It’s all too easy for a child to just be inquisitive and find the wrong thing,” says Young. “We talked about setting good boundaries, parental controls, working through all of the things that you can do with both the Apple and androids, and we’ve got tools to provide for parents to make it a little easier. We’re not all as tech friendly as our children are, and we don’t know as much as they do usually.”
