As Saturday turns to Sunday the lake effect storm shifted south, allowing for plow crews to begin clearing roads.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — As predicted by Storm Team 2, the lake effect snowstorm began shifting south towards Dunkirk just before daybreak, and that allowed plow crews to ramp up operations throughout the region.

Acting Buffalo Mayor Chris Scanlon said, in a social media post that South Buffalo received more snow than they expected.

“The snow band shifted throughout the late afternoon and early evening, settling over Lackawanna and South Buffalo for much longer than the National Weather Service’s modeling had indicated,” said acting Mayor Scanlon on X. “This resulted in an additional 12 inches of snow falling this evening in South Buffalo.”

Several Buffalo DPW crews were plowing roads and contractors were removing dump trucks full of snow in the hardest hit parts of South Buffalo.
