SDG&E is urging its customers to prepare for possible power loss.
SAN DIEGO — San Diego Gas & Electric has warned that approximately 55,000 customers across San Diego County may experience power shutoffs starting Monday night due to a Red Flag Warning. The precautionary measure aims to prevent potential wildfires as strong, gusty winds and low humidity create dangerous fire conditions through Wednesday evening.
The National Weather Service issued the Red Flag Warning, the second in the past week, as the region faces weather conditions similar to those fueling ongoing fires in Los Angeles.
The areas most at risk for power shutoffs include inland valleys and mountain areas of San Diego County. SDG&E has identified these areas on their outage map. Specific communities such as Alpine and Pine Valley are expected to experience strong winds, with winds peaking from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. in Alpine and from 3 a.m. Tuesday through noon Wednesday in Pine Valley.
