PHOENIX (AZFamily) — New polling released this week shows Vice President Kamala Harris has gained a slight lead in the presidential race in Arizona ahead of her campaign stop in the Valley on Friday.
However, outside of some basic demographic details, these traditional polls offer little insight as to why.
Behind the scenes, companies are beginning to turn to artificial intelligence to conduct far-reaching surveys designed to uncover the foundations of people’s opinions.
For about a year, a company called CloudResearch has been running political surveys using AI chatbots. The company’s online polling service, Engage, can gather open-ended responses from a large number of respondents, ask layers of follow-up questions, and quickly analyze trends.
“That is really the revolutionary component of this,” said Leib Litman, Chief Research Officer at CloudResearch. “You can have conversations with representative people and get insights into what is really going on in the country in a way that you just couldn’t do before.”
