How are they going to do it?: Dialysis patients worry as hospitals review next steps for clinics run by UVMMC [Video]

Three Vermont dialysis centers are facing an unknown future after the University of Vermont Health Network announced an operation transition amidst service reductions. All of the clinics are currently operational. The hospitals with those clinics include North County Hospital, Northwestern Medical Center and Rutland Regional Medical Center. The UVM health network said that this could impact around 115 patients. About 60 of those patients use the services in Rutland. In a joint statement, the hospitals said they “have begun discussions with UVM Health Network in search of a way for dialysis care to be maintained in their respective service areas for the patients who desperately need it.”One of those patients who could face the potential impact is Lori Diction. She receives dialysis three times a week at the Kidney Center at RRMC. “I’m still fighting. I’m going to fight until my last breath,” she said. Dicton has had the disease …
