Chris Logan is elated after hearing about the retirement announcement of Willie Hines, leader of the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee. Logan says she and other housing authority tenants have been dealing with issues for years. “Bedbugs number one, vagrants, roaches, mice, prostitution, drugs,” said Logan, a resident. “I’ve heard several talk about verbally abusive managers, lack of maintenance, some electrical problems.”Logan is one of several residents working with Common Ground to push for change. Common Ground is a coalition of nonprofit groups and faith organizations working with public housing tenants to bring attention to their concerns.
