Firefighters found smoke and flames from the rear of the house when they arrived Sunday afternoon.
Two people are displaced after a house fire in Suffolk on Sunday afternoon.
The fire in the 3800 block of Pughsville Road was reported at 1:21 p.m., according to a press release from Suffolk Fire & Rescue. All occupants were out prior to the arrival of firefighters, who arrived to find smoke and fire showing from the back of the house and extending inside.
The fire was called under control at 1:50 p.m. Heavy damage had occurred to the rear of the house, with moderate smoke and fire damage throughout.
There were no injuries, and the American Red Cross is assisting the occupants. The cause and origin is under investigation by the Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office.
