Homewood working on plans for Highway 31 construction to improve traffic [Video]

HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WBRC) – We’re getting an update on some traffic improvements coming to Homewood along Highway 31.

The state awarded a $2 million grant to the City of Homewood back in January for the project.

In a press release on their website, they say it’s to enhance access management, traffic, signals, and sidewalks along the U.S. Highway 31 stretch between Ventura Avenue and Old Montgomery Highway.

City Councilor Jennifer Andress said too many accidents are happening at the Huntingdon Road and Lancaster Road area, which will be improved with this project.

She says they’re putting the scope together now and it should go out to bid in the spring.
