The event celebrated multiple countries’ independence, including Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua.
MACON, Ga. — While Hispanic Independence Day is a week away, the Hispanic Community Center got the celebration going early.
To celebrate Hispanic Independence Month, the Centro Comunitario Hispano (CCH) group hosted a Hispanic Independence Day celebration at their headquarters in Macon on Saturday. Around 40 people came out to attend.
The group celebrated independence days for several countries, including Honduras, Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua.
CCH offered people from all over to experience customs, smells food and cultures of various Hispanic countries. They also gave toys away to young children.
CCH is a non-profit out of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. They partner with the Atlanta Mexican Consulate and in conjunction with the Mexican Government.
The CCH teach various classes, including English, Spanish and other subjects at a Elementary School and Middle School level. They also work with Spanish speaking Adults to prepare them for the GED …
