High school football coach placed on leave after video shows him thrusting hips at player’s head

HOOVER, Ala. (WBRC/Gray News) – Effective immediately, new Hoover High School football coaches Drew Gilmer and Adam Helms are on administrative leave.

The news was confirmed by WBRC in a release from Hoover City Schools sent on Tuesday afternoon. No reason was disclosed.

A video circulating on social media at the same time appears to show a coach during a recent practice running toward a player during a drill, grabbing the same player’s facemask and ripping off his helmet. Then, the player is seen falling.

In a second video that is also circulating now on social media, a coach appears to thrust his hips in the face of a Bucs player, as another coach pulled off the player’s helmet.
