Hernando escapee in custody after 14-hour standoff [Video]

HERNANDO, Miss. (WMC) – A Hernando escapee was taken into custody after being on the run for two months.

Joshua Zimmerman, 30, was arrested Wednesday at 7:20 a.m. after barricading himself inside a restaurant for 14 hours.

The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office hosted a press conference confirming that U.S. Marshals tracked him to a restaurant in Chicago on Tuesday.

DCSO said he was the only one in the building.

The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office hosted a press conference confirming that U.S. Marshals tracked Joshua Zimmerman, 30, to a restaurant in Chicago on Tuesday.

Zimmerman, an attempted murder and robbery suspect, was able to walk out of the DeSoto County courthouse in Hernando on the morning of Friday, June 14, according to law enforcement officials.

The reward for information on Zimmerman’s whereabouts was raised twice to a sum of $15,000.
