As the legislative session kicks into gear, the House GOP is laying out its priorities for this year.
INDIANAPOLIS — House Republicans are putting forward eight bills that represent their priorities for the 2025 Indiana legislative session.
The bills are focused on three main points:
- A balanced budget and fewer regulations;
- Lowering costs while improving services;
- Strengthening Hoosier communities without raising taxes or prices.
Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers) laid out the caucus’s plans in a press conference on Jan. 14, 2025, along with other members of the leadership team.
The House is not putting forward a plan for property taxes. The Senate will be debating that issue while the House tackles the state’s budget.
House Bill 1001 – Budget
Alone among the bills in the House GOP’s wish list, House Bill 1001 has not been released to the public. Indiana passes a new budget every two years, and those budgets are constitutionally required to be balanced.
