How Henderson County is helping those in Tennessee.
HENDERSON COUNTY, Ky. (WEVV) — A grassroots effort in Henderson County is delivering hope to victims of Hurricane Helene in Tennessee. What began in the garage of Brandy Boucherie, co-owner of Boucherie Winery, and Megan Gelzleichter, quickly ballooned into a massive relief operation now housed in a warehouse. Volunteers and local businesses have stepped up to help collect and sort donations for those in need.
“We started, I think it was a random Wednesday, and by Friday, we were talking about warehouses and semis,” Gelzleichter said. “It’s turned into something much bigger than we imagined.”
The operation outgrew the initial garage plan within days due to overwhelming community support. Local businesses like Pittsburg Tank and Tower Group provided warehouse space, while Silver Creek Transportation not only donated fuel but also offered semi-trucks and drivers for the relief effort.
