Helicopter slams into radio tower, killing all 4 people on board, including a child [Video]

Multiple people, including a child, died when a helicopter hit a Houston radio tower on Sunday and caused a large fire, officials said.

Houston Police and the Houston Fire Department responded to a report of a helicopter crash in the city’s Second Ward neighborhood around 7:54 p.m., police said.

Houston Police Chief J. Noe Diaz said during a press conference on Sunday evening that four people were on board at the time of the crash, and that there were multiple fatalities.

The names of the victims have not been released, as authorities work to notify their families.

“This is a tragic event tonight,” Diaz said, adding that the incident was an accident. “It’s a tragic loss of life.”

The crash triggered a loud boom and ignited a blaze that spanned three blocks before it was contained, officials said.
