Customers of all ages are invited to submit an idea in the sixth annual Kolache Factory “Create a New Kolache Contest,” which begins Monday.
The national bakery-cafe franchise, with a location at 4105 S. 84th St. in Omaha, offers about 25 flavors of the beloved Czech pastry that came to America — including parts of Nebraska — in the 1850s.
A creative name and a list of tasty ingredients (no measurements needed) is all it takes to enter the contest, according to a press release. Previous winners include the “El Cubano” and “Jolly Gingerbread.”
Gold, silver and bronze winners get free breakfast for up to a year and a chance to have their creations featured as kolache of the month at Kolache Factory locations across the country. The public will vote for their favorites in August.
