Hastings Aquacourt closes for season following near drowning [Video]

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Just two days following a near drowning incident at the Hastings Aquacourt, the City of Hastings has determined the water park will not reopen for the remainder of 2024.

After internal discussions, Hastings Parks and Recreation determined it was in the best interest of Aquacourt staff not to reopen.

“Our continued thoughts and prayers go out to the 13-year-old female, her family, friends and everyone impacted by this event in our community,” said the city in a release. “We are very proud of how the Aquacourt staff handled this situation. We appreciate the community’s thoughts, prayers, and support shown during this challenging time.”

The City of Hastings is in the process of providing counseling services for Aquacourt staff members.

A vigil was held Thursday night for all those impacted by this incident.
