Hasselbring Senior Center sues city of Flint | Local [Video]

Managers of the Hasselbring Senior Center in Flint filed a lawsuit against the city before mayor’s administration takes over.

FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) – The Hasselbring Senior Center has filed a civil lawsuit, accusing the city of Flint of bullying, harassment, lies and continuous interference.

The complaint comes as the city prepares to take over management of the center after alleged violations of city ordinances by the nonprofit that has run the center for eight years.

Mayor Sheldon Neeley has accused the center’s managers of renting out the city-owned building for events that allow alcohol, which is prohibited by the city.

Thursday’s complaint seeks damages for “false statements made against the center and actions deliberately designed to obstruct Hasselbring’s ability to carry out its mission and serve the public.”
