In partnership with the nonprofit, DoorDash donated $7,500 worth of gift cards to be distributed to local families.
HARTFORD, Conn. — Last Tuesday, the Hands On Hartford nonprofit hosted over 100 families during its annual Toy Shoppe Holiday Celebration at the Hartford Community Engagement Center.
Throughout the event, parents were able to pick up free holiday gifts for their children. Nearly 300 kids visited Santa, participated in arts and crafts, danced and enjoyed snacks.
The event provided local, underserved families with a festive holiday season at no cost. Those unable to attend the event could grab gifts and DoorDash gift cards later.
DoorDash, one of the sponsors, donated $7,500 worth of gift cards to help address food insecurity, supporting 150 families. Other sponsors included Avon Old Farms School, which donated all the gifts, and First Church of Christ in Simsbury, which contributed financially.
Volunteers from DoorDash and Pratt & Whitney also participated in the celebration.
