WILLIAMSTOWN, W.Va. (WTAP) – Two Wood County schools are becoming Partners in Education with the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport.
Officials from Hamilton Middle School and Williamstown Middle/High School, along with Wood County Schools superintendent Christie Willis, appeared at the airport Friday afternoon to sign the agreements.
Airport Manager Ben Auville said partnering with the schools is part of a broader trend at the airport to expose students to aviation.
“Since I’ve gotten hired here, I’ve made a very concerted effort to bring children up here, kids from the community,” Auville said. “Let them know what aviation is, the different types of careers you can have in aviation. Just getting the outreach out there, getting kids exposed, has had some very good success as far as getting the interest up.”
