SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – Were On Your Side with Halloween safety tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to ensure everyone is safe while trick or treating.
A lot of these tips highlight the importance of visibility, having a plan, and knowing who to call or tell if something were to happen.
Experts say these tips can be used year-round and not just for Halloween.
The number one tip when it comes to keeping children safe during Halloween, especially as it starts to get dark earlier, is visibility.
Susan Kennedy, the Director of Community Engagement said, “Any like, reflective tape, or anything you can incorporate onto the bag they are using or their costume, but flashlights are a great idea or for older kids that have a cell phone remind them to use that flashlight feature.”
