Haitian community in Springfield tries to correct disinformation [Video]

Springfield city leaders and Gov. Mike DeWine have repeatedly said the claims are false.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — Springfield’s Haitian community is still trying to bring the divided community together three weeks after former President Donald Trump claimed Haitian immigrants were eating pets in the city.

City leaders and Gov. Mike DeWine have repeatedly said the claims made by Trump and his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, are false.

New Diaspora Live is an online radio station serving Springfield’s Haitian community. The programming changed in recent weeks in an attempt to help educate and combat the disinformation about the city’s immigrant population.

Miguelito Jerome is the executive manager of the station and hosts several shows. He arrived in Springfield three years ago.
