MEMPHIS, Tenn. — There’s a new face leading the Boy & Girls Club of Greater Memphis, and she’s making history.
Gwendolyn Woods is the first female CEO of the Memphis nonprofit. It’s a title that she plans to use to seek solutions to keep youth on the right path.
Ending youth crime has been a big topic among Memphians for years. Some people, like Daniel Brown, need more positive role models to guide them down the right path.
“There’s a lot of people that don’t exactly have that kind of guidance,” Brown said. “You’ll hear more about the crimes itself than the actual programs.”
Woods hopes to be that positive mentor that many kids in the Bluff City need.
“It means everything to me,” Woods said. “I don’t take it lightly, and I wake up praying every day that I do an amazing job for the kids because they deserve it.”
