Greenville Planning Development committee vote on housing proposals [Video]

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – Greenville County’s planning and development committee met Monday night to vote on two new housing developments, which have already sparked pushback from residents.

Monday the Planning & Development committee approved a rezoning request for the Brandon Towns project along Mason, Ross and Jones Streets in the Brandon Community of West Greenville.

The project is 8 townhomes to be built on 1 acre where two mill homes currently sit. The president of the community association raised concern about the price and creating a precedent where future developers can also tear down homes to build new projects.

“For us, we’re always going to keep asking those questions of council, of planning and development–how are you helping for housing to be more affordable when you approve certain types of projects?
