Greenheck Turner Community Center officially opens to the public [Video]

WESTON, Wis. (WSAW) – Greenheck Turner Community Center is opening its doors to the community on Thursday.

After a year of construction, the building is ready to host families, kids, athletes, and the community. Greenheck Turner gave NewsChannel 7 a sneak peek of the new facility in early July as they neared completion.

The new 135,000 sq. ft. turf arena will be available to play — among other field sports — soccer, lacrosse, and softball with spacious seating, a state-of-the-art sound system, scoreboards, and walking lanes. The new space also includes four meeting rooms, two sports simulators, and community spaces.

All individuals and families in the area are invited to attend a free Family Fest event which began at 11:30 Thursday morning with a flag-raising ceremony. Family Fest is happening now until 6 p.m. and includes open turf time, bounce houses, ice skating, gym games, sports simulators, and food trucks.
