Green Lane Bridge to temporarily close for inspection, cleaning [Video]

As part of a routine bridge inspection and cleaning, Cumberland and York counties will be closing Green Lane Bridge, also known as Etters Bridge, in Lower Allen and Fairview Townships on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cumberland County sent out a press release on the closure Monday.

Built in 1889, the bridge is a one-lane, wrought iron through truss bridge that has an 8-ton weight limit and carries nearly 3,000 vehicles per day over the Yellow Breeches Creek.

The bridge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The bridge underwent a rehabilitation project in 2017 as part of the county’s Bridge Capital Improvement Plan utilizing funds from the $5 per vehicle registration fee.
