Green Bay breaks ground on neighborhood on land donated by JBS [Video]

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – State and local politicians will gather to celebrate the groundbreaking of a development on Green Bay’s east side Tuesday morning.

In January, the city’s redevelopment authority began accepting proposals for what will eventually be a new neighborhood next to the Kroc Community Center.

The neighborhood will include affordable housing, community park facilities, and an urban farm.

JBS donated 26 acres of farmland it owned across the street from its food production plant on Lime Kiln Rd. in 2021, along with $500 million toward the redevelopment. It was part of a $1 million commitment to Green Bay to help communities after the COVID-19 pandemic.
