In Greater Fulton, the neighborhoods of Historic Fulton, Fulton Hill and Montrose Heights have long been underserved and underfunded, leading to more environmental hazards and less development in the area.
To tackle those issues, a soon-to-be-completed “green street” project is slated to improve pedestrian safety, reduce flooding and help create a commercial district in Greater Fulton.
“Greening Greater Fulton,” an initiative led by the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay nonprofit and a host of partners, is finishing up the final stages of the project that will spruce up the 4900 and 5000 blocks of Government Road.
“We were long ignored in this neighborhood,” said Chuck D’Aprix, president of the grassroots nonprofit Innovate Fulton. “We could get no city money for any kind of infrastructure projects for years and years.”
