Grambling State University unveils Louisianas first digital library [Video]

MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Grambling State University made history on Thursday morning (Aug.22) by opening Louisiana’s first-ever digital library. The $16 million library, fully funded by the state, is designed to enhance student learning and collaboration.

The new library also marked another historic milestone for Grambling, as GSU became the first historically Black university with a digital library.

“There is no vision that is too big or too bold for Grambling State University, and I think today is just a representation of that,” said Rick Gallot, University of Louisiana System President, during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The new library, which faced delays due to severe weather, was eagerly anticipated by the student body. Joia Dalcour, a GSU student, expressed her excitement about the library’s completion, saying, “Finally seeing this day is very exciting for me only because we’ve seen the start to now.”
