Government says it wants to fast-track the process of delivering building material for the people who have been affected by fires in Cape Town informal settlements.
Human Settlements Minister, Thembi Simelane, has visited the area of Dunoon near Cape Town, which was one of the settlements affected by fires in recent days.
The minister says the government has difficult choices to make.
“We need to make it as standard that we respond faster to allow people to rebuild. At community centres, you sometimes have to separate the children from their mothers. You have to separate the families. And you don’t want to experience that, when you are faced with any form of shock, to be separated from your family. You will always want as a father for example.
