Governor Kotek declares statewide extreme heat emergency [Video]

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – Oregon’s Governor, Tina Kotek, has declared a statewide extreme heat emergency due to current forecasts that expect extreme temperatures to last through Tuesday, July 9.

State and local agencies will continue to respond to requests for emergency cooling shelters, transportation assistance, the distribution of life sustaining supplies, like water and medical services.

The Oregon Department of Emergency Management (OEM) will coordinate access to and use of personnel and equipment of all necessary state agencies. These state agencies include The Oregon Department of Health and Human Services, Oregon Health Authority, Oregon State Police and Oregon Public Utility Commission.
