As the countdown to Election Day continues, Gov. Phil Scott and Democrat challenger Esther Charlestin have continued to hit the campaign trail.Scott is seeking his fifth term this time around, but he is doing things a little differently. Contrary to what you see in national presidential advertisements and New Hampshire gubernatorial candidate commercials in our area, Scott’s commercials don’t ask you to vote for him once. He also primarily goes to other candidate events rather than holding his own. “There’s an extraordinary advertisement where the incumbent governor running for reelection has a TV ad where he doesn’t ask for people’s vote,” said Matt Dickinson, a political professor at Middlebury College. The ads on television, social media and the internet show Scott just asking for people to vote for “common sense” candidates.
