LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) – Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen, Attorney General Mike Hilgers, and four state senators introduced new legislation in a press conference Monday afternoon.
In the conference, State Sens. Rita Sanders of Bellevue, Brian Hardin of Gering, Tanya Storer of Whitman, and Carolyn Bosn of Lincoln talked about four bills they plan to introduce related to the protection of children online.
Sen. Sanders later introduced LB140‚ a bill that would require schools in the state of Nebraska to have a plan in place to restrict phone usage during the school day. Sanders’ bill does not require the same plan of all schools, but requires schools have some kind of plan in place.
Sen. Hardin later filed LB172, which would penalize the creation and distribution of pornography that is digitally altered to involve children.
