Gov. Mike DeWine announces new universal changing stations [Video]

POMEROY, Ohio (WTAP) – Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities Director Kim Hauck, and the Ohio Department of Transportation Director Pamela Boratyn unveiled the first of 29 universal changing stations at Ohio rest areas.

Located at the newly redesigned I-77 rest areas in Jeffersonville, the universal changing stations are part of a family restroom, and include an adjustable table in a clean, safe, and private area. According to the press release from Gov. DeWine, the tables are available to people regardless of height, weight, or mobility level. They are often used by people who assist individuals individuals with disabilities and medical conditions.

Gov. DeWine said adding universal changing stations will provide easier access to restrooms while on the road.

Both Fayette county rest areas on I-71 now have universal changing stations currently open to the public. An additional 17 changing stations will open later this year. One …
