Gov. DeWine orders flags lowered for late Napoleon police officer [Video]

Officer Tyler Murrey, who had been with the department since 2018, died in the line of duty, Police Chief Edward Legg said.

According to a press release from the Governor’s office, the flags will be lowered to half-staff on all public building and grounds throughout Henry county, the Ohio Statehouse, the Vern Riffe Center and the Rhodes State Office Tower. The flags will remain at half mast until sunset on the day of Murrey’s funeral, the governor’s office said. 

Other public buildings and grounds in Ohio may also fly both flags at half-staff during the same time period at their discretion, DeWine’s office said in the press release. 

Murrey died in the line of duty on Saturday, according to a statement from Napoleon Police Chief Edward Legg. Murrey had been with the department since 2018, the statement said.
