Gov. DeSantis addresses state with Hurricane Milton recovery efforts [Video]

TALLAHASSEE, Fla — Governor Ron DeSantis and state officials met in Treasure Island on Sunday to provide updates on Hurricane Milton response and recovery efforts.

Florida Division of Emergency Management Executive Director Kevin Guthrie and Department of Transportation Secretary Jared Perdue also addressed the community on debris cleanup.

DeSantis directed 2,800 personnel to continue to work around the street on debris removal. This comes after President Joe Biden approved 100% reimbursement for debris removal for 90 days.

He said debris removal typically takes a year to clear up, but he said locals need to focus their cleanup efforts in the next three months.

Guthrie reminds the community to avoid pooled water on the streets because it may contain bacteria— so he said don’t walk through it.

Perdue said he is very proud of the community coming together and state officials for their efforts.
