Gov. Cox declares a state of emergency over flash flooding across the state [Video]

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Utah Gov. Spencer J. Cox has issued an executive order that declares a state of emergency across Utah for flash flooding events.

“Many Utahns have seen significant damage to homes and public infrastructure over the past weeks. Additionally, wildfire burn scars and high temperatures have contributed to hardened ground surfaces, increasing flash flood and debris flow risk,” a press release from Gov. Cox’s office said.

“The flooding we have seen over the past few weeks has been devastating,” Gov. Cox said

He stated many Utahns from Sanpete up into Utah counties have seen a lot of damage.

“I saw some of the damages firsthand in Sanpete County, and I know Utahns have been similarly impacted across the state.” he said.
