The hope is the space will become a cultural hub for the entire community.
PORTLAND, Maine — After more than 20 years on Munjoy Hill, Good Theater is on the move.
It will soon take up residence just a few miles away at Stevens Square Theater on what used to be the campus of Catherine McCauley High School.
The venue will provide ample free parking, no stairs, upgraded sound and lighting systems, and a theater where configuration can be changed to accommodate from 100 to 450 seats.
Theatrical productions will begin in the fall of 2025 after renovations to the building have been finished.
Good Theater executive director Gusta Johnson will oversee the operation and help book other, non-theatrical events in the space, everything from opera to dance to comedy.
