Girl Scout cookie season now underway [Video]

Two Girl Scouts with a local troop said selling cookies is their favorite part of being in the Girl Scouts because they can connect with the community.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — It’s that time of year again—Girl Scout cookie season begins Friday!

Each year, Girl Scouts go door-to-door and set up booths in their communities to sell the iconic cookies. All proceeds go toward supporting the Girl Scouts’ programs, including cybersecurity workshops, coding classes, whitewater rafting trips and more.

Vivian Termaat, CEO of Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore, said the cookie program helps foster a sense of entrepreneurship.

“Girls are developing five key life skills. They’re working on decision-making, goal-setting, business ethics and so much more,” Termaat said. “So really exciting for them to learn how to manage their business.”
