Girl and woman injured as officers shoot, kill ‘aggressive’ dog in downtown Omaha apartment building [Video]

A 15-year-old girl and a 37-year-old woman were injured Wednesday when Omaha police officers shot and killed a dog police said was “aggressive.”

Omaha police closed off the area around 16th and Farnam Streets after an incident in which an officer shot an “aggressive dog” in an apartment building Wednesday morning.

The incident happened on the second floor of a downtown apartment building at 305 S. 16th St., near the 16th and Farnam Streets intersection, at 11:18 a.m.

According to police spokesman Lt. Neal Bonacci and a police press release, two officers went to the building in response to a trespassing call. While there, police said, they heard a person screaming. The officers saw two dogs, including a “large-breed, Rottweiler-type dog,” growling and barking at each other.
