Girl, 4, Killed by Family’s Pit Bull Inside California Home [Video]

A 4-year-old girl in California has died after being attacked by her family’s pit bull.

On Wednesday, Sept. 4, just after 8 p.m. local time, Visalia Police Department officers were called to a home in the 2300 block of West Monte Vista following reports a child had been attacked by a dog, according to a police press release shared on Facebook.

The young girl was identified as “Princess Zoey,” per a GoFundMe page set up to help raise funds for the family. According to local media outlet KMPH Fox 26, the toddler’s full name is Zoey Hawkins.

Police confirmed the child “had just finished swimming and was inside the home when the incident occurred,” per the release.

“Despite immediate medical attention and being transported to the hospital, she sadly passed away from her injuries,” the release continued.
