Georgia thwarts potential cyberattack on election website [Video]

Georgia officials thwarted a potential cyberattack on the state’s election website earlier this month, just a day before early in-person voting started earlier this year.The attack was limited to that part of the state’s website, which voters use to request an absentee ballot.At the peak of the attack, at least 420,000 IP addresses tried accessing Georgia’s absentee ballot website simultaneously.Despite the high volume, officials quickly thwarted the attack before any data was compromised. Georgia officials suspect the attack could have come from overseas, but that hasn’t been confirmed.Based on the reporting, Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon said, “These aren’t attempts to get in and mess with elections equipment.
