George, Lee reelected to Sioux City School Board leadership [Video]

SIOUX CITY — Jan George and Treyla Lee were reelected as president and vice president of the Sioux City Community School District Board of Directors on Monday.

George was elected president by a 6-1 vote and Lee was elected vice president by a 7-0 vote. Both had served in the roles over the previous year.

The board on Monday voted on leadership for the next year. George and Earl Miller, who was elected last year, both ran for president. George was nominated by John Meyers to fill the role of president. 

George was elected in 2021. He taught at West High for 31 years before retiring. He also taught government, coached wrestling and was a special education teacher for a time.  George previously served as the vice president and replaced Dan Greenwell as president.
