Officials said a goat died in the fire and two cats were missing.
BUXTON, Maine — A garage was destroyed and a home was partly damaged in a fire in Buxton Saturday night.
It happened shortly before 10 p.m. at 46 Rocky Dundee Road, Buxton Fire-Rescue said in a press release.
The garage, which is a total loss, was near a two-story home. When firefighters got to the scene, they found flames in the attic of the home as well, the release stated.
It took firefighters about two hours to extinguish the flames, according to officials.
“The fire is believed to have been caused by a wood stove issue in the garage,” the release stated.
The people who live in the home were able to get out safely, and there were no injuries, according to the fire department. However, a goat died in the fire and two cats were missing, officials said.
