Gaining RFK Jr. supporters can make or break presidential election in Arizona, political strategist says [Video]

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is expected to hold an event Friday in Phoenix after officially withdrawing from the Arizona ballot on Thursday.

The event comes after Kennedy’s running mate, Nicole Shanahan, said they were planning to throw their support behind former President Donald Trump, who has said he’s open to including Kennedy in his cabinet.

Without Kennedy on the ballot, political strategist Barrett Marson said this can help the both Trump-Vance or the Harris-Walz campaign win Arizona.

“In close, close races like in Arizona, it could actually have impact,” Marson said. “Now many of those voters will probably give Donald Trump and Kamala Harris a better look with him being out of the race.”

The most recent polls from RealClearPolitics that still include RFK Jr. in the race show the following:

  • Kennedy Jr. polling at 5.8%
  • Vice President Kamala Harris leading the polls at 45%
  • Former President Donald Trump close behind at 44.4%
