ANNISTON, Ala. (WBRC) – Gadsden State Community College is expanding one of its programs to help meet the demand for early childhood education. This comes as their Child Development Program will expand to the Ayers Campus in Anniston.
Ayers Campus Director Pam Johnson says she’s glad the programs is back because it attracts hundreds of students a year.
“With more and more people in the workforce, the demand for child development and child care is increasing,” said Pam Johnson.
Re-launching their Child Development Program, campus Director Johnson says during the time of COVID, the program closed.
“During the time of COVID when there were less people working on-site and more people working at home, the enrollment and the demand dropped, particularly the demand because with everything going on with COVID, a lot of people didn’t want to work around people or children,” said Johnson.
