Frischs Mainliner sign being donated to American Sign Museum [Video]

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – After Frisch’s historic Mainliner restaurant closed permanently on Sunday, questions surrounded the future of the iconic sign, a replica of a plane the restaurant was named after in 1939.

FOX19 NOW confirmed Monday the sign will now be housed by the American Sign Museum in Camp Washington, which is a relief to community members who rallied for it to stay in the city.

Frisch’s customer Mark Estes shared concern over the future of the sign and helped rally support for its donation to the museum.

“This sign over here is a Cincinnati relic,” Estes shared. “When you heard of the Frisch’s Mainliner, you thought of the sign out front with the airplanes and propellers that used to spin.”
