Portland reached a toasty high temp Thursday of 96 degrees, but that sort of heat is taking a mid-summer break beginning Friday and heading into next week.
The National Weather Service expects high level clouds to begin filtering into the region Friday as an upper level trough approaches Oregon and Washington.
There is no rain expected with this system, but air temperatures should cool a handful of degrees Friday, then down into the mid 80s by the weekend.
Portland will also see some hazy conditions continuing early Friday. An air quality alert has been extended to 1 p.m. in the metro area. Much of the eastern parts of Multnomah and Clackamas counties were in the “moderate” range at 5:30 a.m. as smoke from area wildfires drifts into western Oregon.
